“Alise is also “the Selector” — a tour guide through the intricate lexicon and early history of rap who DJs from her vinyl-lined perch atop Arnel Sancianco’s vibrant flexible set. The industrial rawness of the setting provides a counterpoint to “the Hill,” the suburban enclave where the kids dream of glory in the glory days of “Yo! MTV Raps.”
